Think About This: Holocaust Remembrance Day

On 27 January 1945, the largest Nazi death camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau, was liberated.

There are people out there who believe that this atrocity never happened. While I do believe that we should always question the events and information presented to us; to deny these events that are thoroughly documented, with real survivors, real liberators  and genuine evil that was allowed to prosper does a great disservice to humanity as a whole.

If we forget the past – we are doomed to repeat it. Hate and fear; if left unchecked, unquestioned, and unchallenged will prosper without consequence. When you hear someone use a derogatory term – correct them. Words become action – help make sure our actions are positive and do not contribute to hate and fear.

Challenge hate with love, intolerance with tolerance, hurtful words with kind ones. Take a moment today to reflect on the fact that light always chases out darkness and resolve to be a light in our diverse and amazing world.
